Our Restored and Expanded Veterans
Memorial Building
--------------------------
Choose to Support Future Generations

The restored and expanded Veterans Memorial Building will serve as the home of San Ramon Valley Veterans as well as a wide range of senior activities and community events. With a beautifully appointed banquet hall, catering kitchen, meeting rooms and the newly designed Veterans Activity Wing, the project will provide an ideal facility for the residents of Danville and the entire San Ramon Valley.
The facility will be a prestigious location for Anniversary Parties, Fundraising Events, Big Band Concerts, Weddings, Banquets, Crab Feeds, Family Reunions, Bridal Shows, Youth Activities, Class Reunions, Craft Fairs and Business Events.
The historic two-story Veterans Building that faces Hartz Avenue: The new basement foundation beneath the old building is complete, as well as the foundation for the new raised exterior terraces overlooking Hartz Avenue. Interior walls of this Veterans' Wing on both the first and second floors have been framed and await the installation of plumbing, electrical, and insulation before sheathing and drywall are added.
The new addition that extends along Prospect Avenue: The concrete floor slab for the addition is complete, and wall framing is nearly complete. The structural steel roof trusses were bolted to steel columns that will support the roof and clerestory window walls for the Community Hall. The roof framing and plywood sheathing are next on the schedule. Electrical work within the framed walls is underway, while outside the building an electrical transformer vault was installed with feeder conduits extended to the south side of the building. Plumbing work beneath the concrete floor slab was complete several weeks ago, but the plumber has not begun piping work in the framed walls. The elevator shaft leading to the 2nd floor of the Veterans offices and the basement is ready for installation of the elevator support frame assembly. Interior stairs leading from ground level down to the basement have been framed as well as stairs up to the first level of the historic building. Access to the second level of the historic building is by way of ladders at present.
Work outside the building envelope:
Three of the four new curb bulb-outs at the Hartz Avenue/Prospect Avenue intersection were completed this past winter. In addition, drainage piping was installed in Prospect Avenue that will eventually accept storm runoff from site drains. A gas service was run from the main in Prospect Avenue to the building, but no meter has yet been set. The Town is still coordinating water and fire service connections with EBMUD, and working with PG&E to extend electrical service to the new transformer vault.
